“The Creepiest Conspiracy Theories (That Could Be True!) By Thoughty2

Today I have found the following video relating to several conspiracy theories:

The video is a small conspiracy theory documentary about several interesting and strange theories that have been wondering the internet for several years now. The video educated me about several ideas that I had yet to hear before. One of these ideas included a government ran device code-named “HAARP” which manipulates the weather, resulting in many well known disasters such as storms and floods.

Other notable theories included the well known Illuminati group, the royal family being lizard people, an airport with rather disturbing art pieces is a portal to hell and was founded by unknown persons (Illuminati and Co.), and that the government is hiding oil reserves to raise costs.

While I found that several of the theories to be very interesting, the only one that stick out to me for the moment is the Illuminati Order, which has been long known theory to me for some time now.

Video Research

Due to it being the most common source of all conspiracy theories, my main research into the types of theories shall now mostly consist of video watching on sites such as YouTube. The reasoning behind this is due to hearing and seeing a large quantity of user-made videos (ranging from vlogs (video blogs) to documentaries) which go into detail about many popular and lesser known theories. From the few I have seen so far, there can be some very “interesting” concepts that people can have.

After this post I shall begin to make more posts centered only on the most impressive, well presented, or the most potential harboring videos I come across during the next few days. In each post I will briefly give a summery and explain what and how each topic can relate and assist my project.

Looking for Insperation

Today I have been researching online in order to find some inspiration for some possible design styles for my project as well as some new ideas which could effect my view on the project in general.

With it being such a iconic symbol for when it comes to conspiracy nowadays, I have first decided to look for art of the the “All Seeing Eye”, a symbol modernly associated with the Illuminati (despite their actual insignia being the “All Knowing Owl”). It is a well recognized symbol across the world which represents both mystery and knowledge, although, when related to the Illuminati, it becomes seen as a watchful and dangerous threat hidden within every dark shadow.

The two images shown belong to a pair of online artists (with links to their respective pages) who have taken two very different takes of the design of the Eye. I have chosen to analyse these two artists due to their different style of viewpoints of the concept of the Eyes.

The first artist has used a very bleak and somewhat depressing design for their interpretation of the Eye, with an obvious relation to the symbols use within the Illuminati. The uses of grey grays and blacks give the piece a very urban setting despite the lack of setting and the use of arms could be seen in two different ways from my standing. The first possible representation could that the arms show how the people are being oppressed by the power of the higher organisations such as the Illuminati, with the people (branded with their sign) sinking into the darkness. The other representation could be that the arms show us as the population, with the one branded hand signifying how there is always some of these organisations hidden among the masses.

I really enjoy the use of pastel-like grays and symbolism used within this piece about the dangers of theories. I may use this as reminder during my work that a little bit (or a lot) of symbolism within the final pieces may make them seem more effective.

The second image takes a very different approach to the use of the, instead seemingly opting to focus more on the true representation of the symbol as its meaning, rather than the organisation attached by theorists. This artists has used incredibly vibrant colors and strokes to give illustrate the symbol’s much more mystical and mysterious origins. The use of colors even gives the design a somewhat hypnotic appearance and, depending on how you interpret it, it can be seen in a more positive way than the previous piece, which leans somewhat into the idea of slavery to the Illuminati.

I love the amazing use of colors used within this piece, as they serve as both a good representation of the mystery to which the symbol stands for, as well as an effective eye-catcher for what could be an excellent front page (something that I will keep to mind later)

While searching for a final image to use within this post, I discovered the following book-cover among the results:

“The United States of Paranoia: A Conspiracy Theory – Jesse Walker” (shown above with the author himself) is a book based around the constant streams of conspiracy theories circulating around within the USA, ranging from the colonial era to the War on Terror. The book-cover stood out to me as it is an excellent example of how type can be used to represent an entire theme just by its lonesome, as the wall of text used for the cover is reminiscent to that of the governmental documents which appear in many classic conspiracy stories. The bright highlighter colors also serve as decent eye-catchers that allow the title and author’s name to be be sported without trouble.

What are Conspiracy Theories?

Today I shall begin doing my main research into the topic of conspiracy theory, what they are and what kind of theories are there that exist.

During my life I have heard many different stories about strong and often ludicrous ideas, ranging from theories about how the royal family and/or other important world leaders are all lizard people who are working towards world domination, to the classical ideas of aliens visiting and abduction. From what I know there can be theories even weirder than that found online, so there should be plenty of material for me to use over the course of the project.

Here are a few of the most prominent theories that I was able to find:

The Moon Landing was Fake

A very popular conspiracy among theorists is that the first moon landing launched by NASA during the great “Space Race” (as well as future launches) was a hoax, and that the landing never happened. Theories about the legitimacy of the landings having been going strong for over the last 40 years and seem to still be here still today.

Those who believe in this theory claim that NASA never really sent men to the moon and that they faked it by creating an acted out recording within a studio. “Proof” for this claim has ranged from viewers saying that they can spot the black curtain in the background, that the stars (on said background) do not match any official star-map, to people working for NASA claiming that the lunch predictions were so low and so expensive that the only way that NASA could win the race was by faking the landing in the end.

Area 51 (The Roswell Crash)

Possibly one of the most (if not the most) well-known conspiracy theories that exist to current day, which revolves around the idea that the government owns a top-secret facility hidden within the Homey Airport base, where they posses various alien/UFO related technology which they use to create high-tech weapons, aircraft and equipment.

Many conspiracy theorists believe that the has been involved in multiple cover-ups of alien activity (such as the Roswell crash in which a crashed surveillance balloon was mistaken for a UFO, and that any excuse given by the military was a giant cover-up) and government hoards technology obtained from those events

The Illuminati

A somewhat more recent conspiracy theory regarding a long since faded secret society known as the Illuminati which pulls various strings from the shadows in order to achieve a  one-world government.

While the idea about the Illuminati being a secret society with big goals is actually true, many theories I have seen go out of the window when it comes to being sensible, as modern media has mostly turned the idea of the group into one big joke, as the once realistic organisation has been claimed by theorists to be responsible for many events, including the assignation of US president John F. Kennedy. There are even beliefs that they are involved in satanic rituals.

9/11 Cover-up

Finally, another very common belief with theorists is that the 9/11 attack back in 2001 was planned and executed by parties other than/including al-Queada and that members of the government and authorities did so for their own personal gain. Others also believe that the collapse of the Twin Towers was due a controlled explosion and not from the plane crash itself, spawning the popular phrase “Jet-fuel can’t melt steel beams“.

New Project – Conspiracy Theory

Today we have been given a brand new project called “Conspiracy Theory”. In this project we have been given the pretend task of creating 3 separate designs for the Natural History Museum, who are preparing an exhibit about conspiracy theories through time. The designs themselves will be used to create a booklet for visitors to buy, which will contain various lore and information about different controversial and/or smaller conspiracy theories.

Possible choices at the moment for theory uses could be famous ones such as The “Illuminati” or the “World Trade Center Bombing”, both of which have been popular conspiracies for a long amount of years now. I have have just a few ideas revolving around the prior, but I will likely only go further into these ideas once I have done some research on the topic conspiracy theories.
